The Opel Blitz was designed with the objective of mass producing a tough and reliable commercial vehicle that could be used for various applications and purposes.
Opel started truck production in their Rüsselsheim site in the early 1930s characterized by a typically USA design. This marked the beginning of a great success that evolved over time, up until the mid 1970s.
The structural features of the Opel Blitz led to its use by the Wehrmacht in the Second World War, in both the 4x2 and 4x4 versions. However, its fame was consolidated by its great commercial success in civil applications.
In the post-war period the Opel Blitz was fundamental for assisting the recovery of traders, artisans, and German industrialists during the reconstruction phase.
